Thanks for your help, I love this site. I have decided to go ahead with the 770, perhaps getting a smaller garden tractor in the future to do the closer trim work.

I have a opportunity to purchase a '94 JD770 with 4wheel drive, 60inch belly mount mower deck, DSCV, and turf tires. The tractor is in good shape, no leaks, paint is in good condition. The use was primarily lawn cutting and using a front "sweeper"in the winter. This machine was used by the school district for grounds care and was maintained well. The asking price is 8,250. The tractor has 3400 hours which is a bit high.<br>Thanks in advance
